Mar. 15-16 — 4-H Family Science Weekend

APRIL 2008

Apr. 12, 9:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.— MEECS Energy Resources Educator’s Workshop.
The ENERGY RESOURCES Curriculum unit includes hands-on activities to learn about Michigan’s energy use and sources, how electricity is generated, renewable and non-renewable energy resources, energy conservation and efficiency, and environmental sustainability. Apr. 26, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. — Spring Family Fun Day.
Come celebrate Earth Day with 4-H families as we hike the trails, learning about Michigan’s flora and fauna in the spring. Birds, wildflowers, mushrooms are at their finest! All instruction, equipment and lunch are included in the $6.50 per person cost. RSVP by Apr. 18.

MAY 2008

May 4-7 — Elderhostel: Stalking the Illusive Morel and Other Natural Encounters.
Learn to kayak on an inland lake, identify and enjoy spring wildflowers, forage edible morel mushrooms and go “birding” in Northern Michigan’s majestic forests.

JUNE 2008

June 22-27 — Intergenerational Elderhostel: Fur, Fins and Feathers.

June 27-29 – Women's Wellness Weekend. Treat yourself or someone you know to a weekend of relaxation and renewal. The Women’s Wellness Weekend features keynote speakers, concurrent sessions and program activities that address methods for dealing with stress, healthy cooking, physical fitness, outdoor recreation, and opportunities to just have fun, relax and feel pampered! OCTOBER 2008

Oct. 4, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. — Fall Family Fun Day.
Families are invited for our 4-H Centennial (100th year) Celebration! Spend the day learning new fishing skills, learning how to kayak and canoe, learning about freshwater ecology by performing physical and chemical tests to determine water quality, and by dipping for macro invertebrates. All instruction, equipment and lunch are included in the $6.50 per person cost. RSVP by Sept. 26.
